The Team
It’s always good to know who’s engineering your brand’s success. So here it is - your chance to find out a bit about what makes the key members of the team at the Engine Room tick.
Darren Evans, Creative Director
Darren heads up the creative team behind the Engine Room's portfolio. He is also responsible for making sure the printer doesn't run out of toner. With a degree in Graphic Design and over 15 years experience in brand identity and communications, he can name a typeface at ten yards, has a keen eye for detail and would love to work with his fave brand, Lego.
Darren's design work has actually appeared on the small screen. He once designed a t-shirt for a contestant who appeared on the TV programme Gladiators. Fame however, was short lived as they were destroyed by the awesome power of Rhino in a game of Sumo Ball. Grrrr.
Helen Davies, Operations Director
The Engine Room runs smoother than a smooth thing being fed through a smoothing machine, mainly because Helen is chief mechanic. With a degree in graphic design and over 20 years agency experience, her attention to detail is legendary, she is also the only member of the team that can type properly using both hands.
Helen holds a Blue Peter badge for Gorgeous grub (1977), which is ironic as she couldn't cook her way out of a supermarket now.
Mark Edwards, Senior Creative
In the 14 years since leaving university Mark held senior design positions at some of the leading agencies in Yorkshire before joining the Engine room.
Marks talent for picking winning ideas out of thin air is written in folklore. In fact it's a good job someone else wrote it, because as with most geniuses his hand writing resembles the footprint of a three legged spider walking backwards (blindfolded). 'Mine is not to document' he says, 'only to imagine...'
Mark is 8’ 9” tall, has a rating of 386 on ebay and was the Miners Arms (Rotherham) pool league champion in 1999.
Leo Parker, Creative
What can we say, creative, professional, technically brilliant and generally a safe pair of hands. That's what we tell him anyway...
Leo oozes ideas and efficiency and fits nicely into the Engine Room chassis. He holds a degree in Graphic Design and has over 14 years agency experience in which he has worked for several household brands.
Leo's biggest claim to fame is meeting a real life Ewok called Maureen. Don't ask.
Helen Greenwood, Creative
Being the newest addition to the creative team, Helen brings a fresh perspective to design at The Engine Room.
With a varied background of experience across retail and B2B sectors & a degree in Graphic Design, Helen enjoys all aspects of creative art and design and is always eager to get stuck into every project.
Helen once got lost in a maze with Timmy Mallet (we were confused too) and has an ever growing Herdy collection... feel free to look that one up.
Nikki Taylor, Junior Account Executive
As a business student Nikki has injected her unstoppable enthusiasm and eagerness to learn into The Engine Room.
With an eye for effective communications, Nikki will be supporting the team on a 12-month placement using PR, Marketing and Media Relations. Her past experience lies in retail product promotion and handing out the pretty pens in lectures.
Nikki is the latest contribution to the newfound girl power at The Engine Room (a-zigga-zig-ahh) and was once an extra on BBC1's Waterloo Road.
